CIRFOOD PARTNER IN COVIVIO’S ECO-SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT IN MILAN

Vitae is Covivio’s project for eco-sustainable urban development that will emerge in the Via Serio site in Milan, in the area of the Porta Romana train yard.

The structure will be home to Horto, a modern zero-kilometre catering project and hydroponic greenhouse run by CIRFOOD.
Vitae will also have offices and areas for public events focusing on food and education, alongside hubs dedicated to business and space set aside for molecular and cancer research.

The name “Vitae” comes from the combination of two concepts: "vita" (the Italian word for "life") and "vite" (the Italian word for "vine"). In this project, nature will be a fundamental element, a tool to help us take on the modern-day problems of climate change and pollution, as well as an instrument of research.

The winning project of the international competition for urban and environmental redevelopment was announced during Milan Green Week in Milan. This project was supported by us and promoted by Milan City Council and C40. An important opportunity for us all to pause and take stock, to tell the city about this ambitious project that looks to the future. We believe that putting a greater focus on a more sustainable world is the basis of any decision concerning the future. 
For us, being a partner of this important plan is something to be proud of: bringing nature into the city is an ambitious project that we aim to support, because our communities can only be pointed in the right direction through collaboration, and that means urban regeneration that is innovative and has high environmental value.
